Gara Racing Paddles are associated with many of the worlds top paddlers in a multitude of disciplines from river and flatwater marathon racing to Sprinting and surf ski paddling. Gara Racing Paddles were used during the 2014 season winning the K1 and K2 world marathon titles as well as many international surfski races with Hank McGregor and Jasper Mocke and river marathon races with Andy Birkitt.
Gara Racing Paddles are produced with the highest care and quality. A great deal of research and design has gone into the manufacturing process that defines the Gara Paddle brand. You can be assured that many years of hands on experience with both the materials used and the finished product has brought you the Gara paddles you order. Custom hand operated compression presses are used to apply up to 5 tons of pressure on each Gara paddle blade in setting the carbon fibre design. The presses allow a consistent 60 degree (Celcius) heat treatment of each blade through an aluminium block lazer cut to the shape of your paddle. This ensures even curing of the carbon fibre blades and creates exceptionally light, strong blades. The use of a combination of high quality carbon fibre sheets crossed with multi-axial and uni-directional strands along the length of the blade ensure just enough “give” in the blade under extreme stress, while ensuring supreme strength in river and sprint conditions.
GP1 – A scaled down version of the popular GP2 paddle. Size – Small/medium – suits smaller and recreational male paddlers, strong females
GP2 – A unique shape of blade that provides excellent stability in the water and does not require a perfect paddling style or stroke to be effective. It is popular in disciplines such as surf ski, river paddling (both long distance and white-water racing), flat-water marathons and sprinting. Size – Medium – very strong females, medium to strong males
GP3 – A large parallel blade used mainly for down-river paddling and surf ski. It is exceptionally easy to use and behaves really well in rough water allowing even pulling through challenging rapids. The shape of the blade ensures a design with high strength, making it ideal in rocky, low-river condition. Size – Medium – Medium – very strong females, medium to strong males
GP4 – A popular teardrop shaped blade used by marathon and sprint paddlers worldwide. This blade is also suitable for surf ski and river paddling. This blade has an incredible strength due to a custom manufacturing process unique to Gara’s design team. Size – Medium – very strong females, medium to strong males
